The Zion Shuttle has Improved the Experience for Zion Visitors.
Zion National Park introduced free shuttle service in 2003 to address worsening traffic problems. Eliminating traffic jams, overflowing parking lots, and gagging exhaust fumes, the shuttle system created a cleaner, quieter, and hassle-free experience for visitors in Zion Canyon. Visitors remark to us daily how quiet the canyon is with the shuttle system in place.
The free Zion Shuttle cruises the Canyon Drive to all trailheads in the Main Canyon. The shuttle also travels a Springdale loop, allowing visitors to arrive in Zion and not drive until they journey to their next destination. Both Springdale and Main Canyon loop buses makes stops every 10 minutes, making the trip to and from your destination trailhead easy with a little planning. Enjoy the shuttle ride, the interpretation, and the roaming wildlife roaming abiding more freely in the relatively “car-less” canyon.
Shuttles run seasonally, April through October. The Park prohibits personal vehicles inside upper Zion Canyon during this time unless a RED permit, obtained through a Zion Lodge reservation, is visible in your driver-side window.
