Overview: The Connector Trail hikes through open pinyon pine-gambel oak forest, skirting the slickrock of Pine Valley Peak on the way to the Wildcat Canyon Trail. This path exists principly to connect Hop Valley to Wildcat Canyon and the West Rim beyond.
Trailhead: From Springdale, drive west on SR 9 through Rockville and into Virgin (15 minutes). Just after the Zion River Resort, turn right on the Kolob Mountain road. Drive 12.1 miles (19.481 km) north to the trailhead, on the left-hand side of the road. Park in the small, sandy lot.
Mileage: 4.0 miles (6.4 km), one-way
Elevation Gain: 609 feet (185 meters)
Approximate Hike Time: 2 hours, one-way
Difficulty: Easy hiking with a moderate elevation gain
Best Times of Day: Any time is good
Best Times of Year: Late spring through autumn
Crowds: This trail sees little traffic, hiked mainly be those backpacking from Lee Pass to Wildcat Canyon trailhead or points beyond.
Water Sources: A few small creeks provide water seasonally. Check with the Backcountry Desk for up-to-date information.
Camping: No camping is permitted along the Connector Trail
Don’t Miss: Just a minute from being uneventful, the trails meandering path reveals subtle and lush vegetation, climbing into the prize worthy Ponderosa forest neat Lava Point.
