When I was a little kid I was as active as humanly possible. I played sports, backpacked, camped, and climbed just about anything I could get my hands on. When I transferred to Fresno State University I had no idea what to do and decided a Business degree would be the best decision for it’s general scope and flexibility. It was looking as though it would be a less than ideal college experience where I would be going to school just to get a degree instead of really setting myself up for something I loved and was passionate about. After orientation I decided to look through my catalog and choose a few general education courses to fill in some units. All of a sudden I spotted Recreation Administration. A little confused and intrigued I skimmed to that subject. My jaw dropped as I realized this major was everything I had been searching for but had no idea existed, until now. There was rock climbing, white water rafting, backpacking, challenge course facilitation, and so much more. I don’t think I could’ve changed my degree any quicker than I did that day.
Ever since realizing my major I’ve been interested in guiding and have been given an amazing opportunity by Zion Adventure Company to do just that. I am very excited to be a part of the guide team at ZAC and be able to teach and show people everything that I know about canyoneering and the great outdoors.
